Hi there!

My name is Corey. I’m a self-taught video editor and motion graphics designer of 12 years; the last 7 of which have been professionally! I’m an avid user of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, with experiences in Photoshop, Audition, DaVinci Resolve, game engines and more! If you’d like to learn more about my specific proficiencies, visit the Discipline section. But this is my bio! My love of games started when I was a child with Pokemon Blue and has only grown from there. Between games like Halo: Combat Evolved, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Infamous and Uncharted, as I grew up I was continually amazed with what games could be and knew how much I wanted to be apart of that process. When I discovered my love of video editing in 2012, I finally found my way to do that.

I was inspired to jump in on the Let’s Play boom YouTube was having in 2012, starting with a simple gaming news show with little amounts of actual editing created using iMovie. Since then, I’ve edited everything from business commercials to in-production game milestone videos; gameplay videos to two-second gifs. To further that goal, I graduated college in Mass Communications with a focus in film and have worked professionally in video since 2017, in the gaming industry since 2019. I’ve worked on three retail releases, Halo Infinite (343 Industries/Xbox Game Studios), Gotham Knights (WB Games Montréal/Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment) and New World (Amazon Games), as well as unannounced projects. I’ve also gotten to take on projects from online groups like Kinda Funny where I’ve garnered over 1 billion gif views, and Achievement Hunter where I’ve gotten to edit Lets Play videos and sizzle reels.

In 2017, I started and worked two years at ABC 7 Amarillo as Creative Editor, working on commercials and station promos for the local news station. I worked in a team that ranged from four people to just myself and my boss between hires. This is where I really learned to use a camera and mic as well as lighting setups and various pieces of equipment out on the field as we shot commercials, where I would then take the footage back and edit it to the clients expectations and applied effects through After Effects. This is also where I got to test the importance of self-motivation and implementing feedback efficiently while being able to tell the best story in the commercial you can. I have examples on the ABC 7 Work page, but the coolest projects were our Image promos where we got to be abstract when promoting the station, and then a commercial where the client asked to “fly like Superman”, and you can see how those turned out!

In 2019, I moved into the gaming field when I was hired on as Associate A/V Media Designer at Certain Affinity in Austin, Texas. Within a year, I was brought out of Associate status. I go into detail on it’s highlight page, but my position has me going from Milestone videos to Studio Sizzle Reels and Tour Videos, while we also work on internal hype videos for projects and pitch videos for potential new projects to be shopped to publishers. We move fast and as a motivated self-starter, it’s right up my alley. The talent we get to work closely with while implementing many people’s ideas and visions is always a balancing act that I enjoy. In 2023, I was promoted to Senior A/V Media Designer.

Aside from my 9-5 jobs, I’m known in the Kinda Funny community as the “Gif Master”, as I’m the go-to community member for making gifs for the online comedy gaming group since 2017, and through their Giphy page that I run and maintain, we’ve achieved over 1.5 billion gif views. I’m the host of The Just an Editor Podcast, where I interview editors, producers, directors and more from the movie and gaming industry to hear their processes and favorite career moments. Making that show has been some of my favorite moments as a professional editor. I’ve also gotten to go full circle and make Lets Play videos again for the gaming online group Achievement Hunter, as well as create a sizzle reel for them. From San Fransisco Giant’s Hunter Pence to my own personal videos, I’m always working on new techniques and new projects to keep myself creating and having fun!

This isn’t career related, but heck this is my bio and I can go off script! I’ve also recently (2019 to be exact), found my love of getting fit! Losing over 100 pounds through diet and exercise, I’ve found little better for curing a stuck creative state than taking a break and walking outside. If you ask my colleagues, they can attest the phrase “I had the idea while I was out on a walk!” is said a lot around me!

Feel free to contact me to ask any other questions that may pop up about my experience!
